Platform Engineer
Location: Central London (Hybrid 2 days per week)
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000
My client is a FTSE 250 technology company with the culture and energy of a tech start-up. They are seeking a talented Platform Engineer to join their growing team based out of London. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive self-starter to take ownership of their work, contribute to cutting-edge cloud-based projects, and progress their career within a business offering a clear pathway to Senior and Principal roles.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining and supporting the company’s suite of cloud-based services, ensuring their scalability and availability for engineering teams and end users.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineering Support: Provide hands-on support to engineering teams with platform-related changes and pipeline optimisation.
- DevOps Platform Management: Administer and enhance the company’s DevOps platform, ensuring secure and efficient operations across GitHub, CircleCI, and AWS environments.
- AWS Expertise: Design and implement scalable, reliable, and secure AWS cloud solutions, leveraging services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, and CloudWatch.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop and maintain scalable infrastructure using tools such as CloudFormation and Terraform.
- Containerisation and Clustering: Manage containerisation technologies, particularly Docker and Kubernetes, and oversee orchestration of clusters using Amazon EKS/ECS.
- Pipeline Development: Build and optimise continuous integration and delivery pipelines to support agile development and deployment processes.
- Security: Embed security best practices across platform operations, including vulnerability management, access control, and adherence to industry standards.
Candidate Profile
Experience & Qualifications:
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- At least 2 years’ experience in a DevOps or platform engineering role.
- Strong knowledge of GitHub, CircleCI, AWS, CloudFormation, and IaC tooling.
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud architecture and services.
- Proven expertise with containerisation and orchestration tools, particularly Docker and Kubernetes, including EKS and ECS.
- A solid understanding of security best practices within DevOps environments.
- Experience within the fintech sector is highly desirable but not essential.
